How To Stay Best Friends After School?
Leaving high school can be hard on a friendship. Some friends will drift away because of distance and new interests. But best friends are priceless, and you need to do what you can to keep them.

Teen Fashion

Trend Bites, What's cool, what's hot, what I can't live without. A random soapbox of coolness, that is.

Birkies

Granola-y as they may be, I've loved Birkenstock sandals since owning a cheapie knock-off pair back in second grade. Those trusty double-strap sandals saw me through the spring, summer, and near into the fall, a perfect match for my uniform of casual jumpers (shorts simply didn't cut it back then for me). Luckily my style has matured since then, but my affection for Birkenstocks simply hasn't faded.

I was completely psyched upon discovering old favorites (particularly the almost-trendy thong "Gizeh") done up in tropical shades and chic white for the upcoming summer. When I stumbled across Michael Kor's version of the cult classic "Arizona," I was positively floored. I just don't know which to choose. Authentic Birkenstocks or Michael Kor's luxed-up version? I do believe you're right. I need both.

Sneakers, Kicks, Tennies

So we know espadrilles are cool. And those hippie leather flats are everywhere. But lately I’ve been craving a great pair of retro sneakers. I’m not talking about any pair of old old-school gym shoes. I want a pair of hipster-cool sneakers, shoes that make you say "Hey, check out her cool kicks!"

I discovered and am in love with the Asics sneakers webby. Lots of perfect vintage-inspired shoes (because really, who wants VINTAGE SNEAKERS? Ick), including the famed, to me anyway, Mexico 66 style. They're bright, classy, and totally not gym material, but in a good way. You see, the Mexico 66's (isn't that a fun name?) are wear-with-skirts-and-bermudas-type because they're so dang perfect. Anyway. If Asics aren'tltyour thing, make an effort to check out [Mischa's] new Keds. In my humble opinion the shoes are undeniably cute. Mischa in the shoes is not cute, however. But don't discriminate.

Hippie Hippie Chic Chic

We all know tiered gypsy skirts are cool again. So cool they're almost uncool, to be honest. I'm ready to mix it up with a prairie dress; one part sun dress, one part circle skirt, and 100% stylish. A great fit is essential to avoid looking like a dowdy Gardner. Not that all Gardners are dowdy... those rainbow bright garden shoes are completely fun. But I digress. Look for a hem that hits right below the knees and a top that is fitted, flattering, and just on t of revealing. They're great for wearing beach side, shopping, or even a night on the town. Be sure to choose shoes wisely.

And don't get me wrong. Go ahead and keep on wearing your pretty swing skirts proudly. They'll see you through the summer months very, very chic-ly.
